The last song from my upcoming EP, “The Piano is Louder This Time”

It is the last in a 4 part series that all goes together into one larger piece.  I’ll post that later.  This track is called “Persepolis”

Do you remember,

before the moon stole the sun’s crown?

Standing on giants

We were kings and gods and this was our town.

We were in over our shoulders

And it all came crashing down.

I was a mountain

before the rain swept it all away.

This was an empire

we watched it sink into decay.

And we were in over our shoulders

And we were in over our shoulders

I was a mountain

until I draped my head

under the covers

of blinding insignificance.

And we were in over our shoulders

And we were in over our shoulders.

There used to be houses here.

There used to be houses here.

This was different

I never tried so hard.

It was a battle

and I damn well wouldn’t be on my heart.

I knew it was over

but I wasn’t man enough to let it see the light.

If you’re always wrong

you might as well pretend you’re always right.

I’m always right.

And we were in over our shoulders.

And we raised our hands up.

There used to be houses here.

And there used to be people here.

There used to be roads and theaters.

Sing it louder.

Sing it softer.

Sing it anyways you want ‘cause

in the end it doesn’t really matter.

And we were in over our shoulders

And we raised our hands up.

We were trying to breach the soil.

And there used to be houses here.

And there used to be people here.

There used to be roads and theaters.

Then the soil swept it down.

And we raise our hands, raised our hands up.

We raised our hands, raised our hands up.

We were trying to breach the soil.

But, we could never breach the soil.

I was a mountain.

I was a mountain.
